Scientific Solutions' - LabMaster DMA Ribbon Cable Arrangement

The labMaster DMA PC Interface has headers for connections to ribbon cables.  These headers provide the following signals:

A special bracket on the LabMaster DMA PC expansion board allows several ribbon cables to exit the computer while only using a single computer slot.  The bracket is a custom Scientific Solutions design and provides strain relief and shielding for the cables.  The following pictures show a cable routed thru the labMaster DMA bracket:

You would first install the card into the PC, then feed the cables thru the opening in the cable bracket.  Thus a "quick disconnect" from the computer is not available should the need arise.  This arrangement has been used since the first labMaster was introduced in 1981 and provides complete compatibility with customer's existing cable arrangement.  Note that the ST-56 Screw Termination (a different cabling option) uses a "quick disconnect" round cable to the external unit and also replicates the ribbon cable connections, thereby providing the same ribbon cable connections, in addition to providing a quick disconnect feature.  Customer preference dictates which option to use.

labMaster DMA External ADC Unit:

The labMaster DMA PC Interface installed in the computer connects to the external ADC board thru a 50 pin shielded ribbon cable.  The external ADC board is mounted into a desktop unit.  The front of the desktop unit contains openings for cables to gain access to the analog input connections.  The back of the unit also contains an opening, wide enough for a 40 pin ribbon cable.  The External ADC board has a 40 position header connector for the Analog Input.
